چکیده
A review of heteroditopic interlocked molecules and their application as receptors for simple inorganic ion pair species. The details the design recognition properties rotaxane catenane receptors, well highlighting some experimental challenges; hence, it provides insight into possible future avenues research in this youthful field.

Copper(I)-catalyzed Huisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition between terminal alkynes and azides – also known as the copper (Cu)-catalyzed Azide-Alkyne Cycloaddition (CuAAC) – has been used in the syntheses of molecular compounds with diverse structures and functions, owing to its functional group tolerance, facile execution, and mild reaction conditions under which it can be promoted. Recently, rotax...
متن کاملAxle component separated ion-pair recognition by a neutral heteroditopic [2]rotaxane.
A neutral heteroditopic pyridine N-oxide axle containing [2]rotaxane, synthesised via sodium cation templation, displays cooperative recognition of alkali metal cation-halide anion ion-pairs in an unprecedented axle component separated ion-pair binding fashion.
متن کاملRotaxanes and catenanes as prototypes of molecular machines and motors*
In the course of the last 20 years, our view on rotaxanes and catenanes has completely changed. Copper(I)-templated strategies, in particular, have allowed us to prepare catenanes on a real preparative scale, in a few chemical steps from commercially available compounds. A particularly significant improvement was the introduction of the recently developed ring-closing metathesis reaction, using...
متن کاملConstruction of photoswitchable rotaxanes and catenanes containing dithienylethene fragments.
Mechanically interlocked structures such as rotaxanes and catenanes provide a novel backbone for constructing functional materials with unique structural characteristics. In this study, we have designed and synthesized a series of photoswitchable rotaxanes and catenanes containing photochromic dithienylethene fragments using a template-directed clipping approach based on dynamic imine chemistry...
متن کاملConvergent heteroditopic cyclo[6]aramides as macrocyclic ion-pair receptors for constructing [2]pseudorotaxanes.
A strategy of using amide groups as the only functionality was developed to construct convergent heteroditopic cyclo[6]aramides that are able to strongly bind dibutylammonium chloride in chloroform (>10(5) M(-1)), leading to the formation of [2]pseudorotaxanes.
